My research is situated at the intersection of Business Information Systems, Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), Artificial Intelligence, and Digital Media. I am particularly interested in the design and evaluation of interactive digital systems, with a focus on social interaction, inclusion, learning, usability, and long-term accessibility.

My current research interests include:

  • Social Robots, Human-Robot Interaction (HRI) & AI Companions
    social and companion robots, adaptive personality and state models, robot surrogate architectures, and multimodal human-robot interaction, particularly in the contexts of healthy aging, psychosocial support, and everyday applications.
  • Inclusive Human-Computer Interaction, Digital Health & Digital Inclusion
    participatory and accessible design of digital systems for older adults and people with cognitive, visual, or intellectual disabilities; investigating accessibility, usability, acceptance, and digital participation.
  • Serious Games, Gamification & AI-Supported Learning
    game-based and quest-based learning, game design and balancing, and the use of generative AI for interactive, narrative, and scenario-based learning environments in higher education.
  • Usability & Human-Centered Design of Interactive Systems
    user-centered development and empirical evaluation of interactive systems, prototypes, and toolchains, drawing on approaches such as Participatory Design, Co-Design, Design Science, and Usability Engineering.
  • Digital Cultural Heritage, Digital Preservation & Digital Humanities
    long-term preservation of complex digital artifacts through emulation, preservation and access to computer games and digital media art, as well as digital research infrastructures, scholarly annotation, and image discourse.

I am particularly interested in interdisciplinary research and knowledge-transfer collaborations at the intersections of computer science, psychology, robotics, health sciences, education, and the humanities – ranging from conceptual models and research datasets to prototypes, empirical studies, and applied research projects.
